1972 50 h/p water pipe leak

I have a leak where the pipe from the water pump connects up to the motor.I dropped the lower unit becouse i thought the water pump was bad. I peplaced the pump and put it together and started it up and no water was peeing out. i dropped the lower unit and put a garden hose on the water pipe and still no peeing . I then took the small hose off the pee connection at the cowelling and blew threw it and noticed it was comming out under the motor. So i think i need to replace the connection at the motor.I'm thinking it must be a hose connection,right? Can i do this from below reaching up after the pipe is pulled out or what should i do?
