Hey gang! I have a Question for the forum. I have a 1972 65 horse Evinrude . I was going to take the wife and kid out on the lake to do some fishing / boat ridding. Got to the boat ramp and put the boat in. Started her up and let her idle. All was OK so I decided to drop the motor (No power T&T) so I lifted to motor up to push the motor bracket down, well the motor got away from me and it went down kinda hard. After it hit the transom, the motor died. I tried to re start but no good, she would not turn over. I took her back to the parking area and pulled the cover off the power head. All seemed OK, thought that maybe some wire might have got knocked loose. Took the gas filter screw off to check it that was fine, seemed to pump fuel while motor was turning over. 30 minutes later I tried again with no luck. After a few hours of fishing off the bank we went home. When I got home I hooked up the water hose to the lower unit to try to see if she would start. After a few cranks she fired up, I could not get the motor to idle. Tried again and this time gave it a little more throttle, I then backed down and the idle was OK. I have started this motor every time since that day. I still have not been back to the Lake but will go with a buddy and his boat Sunday. What might be the problem, did I flood the motor @ the lake? This was only my second time out in this boat. Any suggestions? Thanks
