Hello all,

Just wanted to touch base here on my little issue. Sometimes my motor will fire up and sometimes not. I did a bit of tsing when it would not fire up. Well no spark was coming out.
I think it has do something with the amplifier. Seems to be the only logical explanation going on here.

Opinions are welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like this one will work, correct me if im wrong. Just don't want to burn 300 bucks on a wrong part.

Found an older post my Joe to another unlucky fella.

"For your specific engine 1972 85hp Evinrude, the OMC original part number of that pulsepack is 383299 which is superseded by and up to 389551 to 397123.

It looks like i can use this one from CDI site... Since the superseded part is replaced my CDI replacement. But its not a 6 cylinder, maybe the description is a tad misleading????

That was one of the last engines that still had points. Possible it's a simple as bad points/condenser. Go with Boobie's website recommendation.

Would the key switch have any thing to do with this problem?
I had to go in and rewire it about a yr ago. Wires grounded out causing a short and killing the battery.

Also, it seems like when i adjust the points and then go back in a they are more closed. Then again, i readjust and try to fire it up and sometime it work and others not!

Were the points and condenser recently replaced?
