1972 Evinrude 6hp fisherman gearing

What is the gearing differance in the fisherman model 62020J? I'm thinking it is geared lower than the standard model. If this is true can you change the gear set out to get more speed/less torque? or would it be easier to change/mod the prop?

The gears are the same in all 6hp versions for that year. So, there isn't a different ratio available.

Now, it may be that the gears from some other engine using the same gearcase might be a different ratio. You'd have to check on the parts site blowups.

There are, however, some different pitch props that will fit that engine.
