1972 Johnson 125hp need help

The problem I am having is that when I went to un winterize it the motor started fine ran for about 10 mins then died.? Now when I turn the key I get nothing no cranking, no spark thus the no cranking. Today I replaced the selioniod hoping that was it and you guessed it no. <br />So the I took the control box apart to check the wires at the ignition, I cannot seem to find a hot wire on it. It does have a hot wire like a car right? When I say hot I mean hot all the time. Any help would be great thank you.

first off get a factory manual to familarize you with trouble shooting and part location,there are plenty of used ones coming on ebay all the time.try and look for any fuse assembly under the outboard hood. do you have a volt meter?if so, start checking for power at the the controls and cables.<br />javsam

Ok I have a manual but not specific for the motor, I did check the cables for volts in the engine side. Were the battery cable comes to the selioniod it reads 12.5 volts, on the power bar thing in the back of the engine were the red I belive the 7th spot reads the same. The control box had no power in it at all...... I am puzzled <br />off the selioniod in the S spot the wire is white and also on the T spot, when I look in the control box I only find one white wire running to this wierd relay looking thing. Sorry im new to the big motors and this kind of stuff but I know a car/ truck always has a hot running to it thus so it can send signal to the selioniod to say start when you turn key... Not sure if this this does or should. Oh and the book I got does not cover the control box just the motor.

The red wire with the grey tracer should be hot to the control box start switch. That wire goes through the large red plug under the engine cowling. It is possible to have power to the strip under the cowling, yet have a blown fuse.<br />There is an inline tiny, 20 amp fuse inside a red connector plug under the hood. Check this fuse for continuity.

Ok kewl I will look into that. My question is I cant recall any large red plug under the hood, maybe black? from the pulse pack? on the selioniod? On the selioniod I have the one fat red wire to the starter, one from the battery. The fuse could be this ball thing under there? I will look into it here in a bit and post back when I can and let you know. Oh if the fuse is blown is it just replace it? or get a new wire?

Ok I found the wire and found the fuse, it was blown so I replaced it and yes there is a hot wire now. When I turn the key I get nothing so I am gunna replace the Ignition tomarrow as I belive that is what could of caused the fuse to blow. any other ideas would be good thanks

I hooked up the new ignition and got nothing??? but I thought maybe just maybe the wires on the selioniod were backwards the 2 white ones and they were now it cranks. I had muffs on it but really didnt try to start it due to some old gas but I will check spark and see if I can get her to start tomarrow. also quick question for you guys the old ignition had 4 posts the new one 6? ok heres the question there are 4 purple wires altogether hooked on the 2 i.e. ignition side is this right? should 2 of them be on the other posts of the new ignition switch?
