Is it possible to switch the lower unit of a 1972 johnson 125hp hydro(electric shift) to a manual shift lower unit? Is the casing the same for both manual and electric? Problem is I just got the outboard and notice it has three cracks in the lower unit housing.

i change a 1973 to a manul shift . i used the power head on a 1974 manul shift . there is 2 cables on the standard and i had to change the plate that the cable ajustments mounted to. and the shift diodes has to be removed . the shift meckonisiomneeds to be changed ihe part where the cables fasten to block . there is a throdle arm onley on the motor you need the shift arm to..<br /> the block is the same for 1972 till 1974 that is on the 50 for sure .
