1972 Johnson 2 HP Recoil

How does one recoil the spring to repair a 2 HP recoil assembly? I accidently let the thing go, and I cannot get it to coil back where it is supposed to be. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction on how to fix?

Very condensed version: Stick spring end through hole in aft side of starter housing, into spring cavity area; Install pulley, pin into spring loop end and install center spindle; Wind pulley counter-clockwise, pulling spring through aft hole, into cavity. Now you can install rope & pawl.
