1972 Johnson 50 horse

I have a 1972 johnson 50 hp I'm haveing problems getting it running. I put nwe coils on new cdi box and new Stators on it. It is getting plenty of gas I can get it to pop but it just wont start. Does it have to be timed when you put new Stators on it? An help would be great

Is it sparking at both spark plugs? It should jump a 7/16" gap using a spark tester with that ignition.

Both spark plugs are have spark I have not used a spark tester. where is the flywheel key?

It was the flywheel key that sheared off thanks for the info. Now for my next question the motor runs great on land andiles good in water but when you put it under a load it dies? A friend gave me a tank of gas and I found out today it is ethonal. Would that e the problem? Any info would be great. Thank you for your time Tim

Put it in the lake, take the air box cover off of it and squirt some premix fuel in the carb throats when it wants to die. If it picks up, you have carb probs.
