I have been reading over several posts about using two-part 2lb foam in a boat and have yet to find the simple answers I have been searching for.

1)If you put PVC pipe as a drain channel, will the foam enter the pvc and block the water flow? I have heard of putting paper mache is there any other method? Does larger diameter pipe help with this issue?
2)I have heard of running drain channels parallel to the stringer, do you also need to run drain channels perpendicular to the stringer?
3)Do you drill holes in the pipe or put notches? What diameter of pipe?
4)If you left airspace between the foam and the deck would this increase condensation? I was thinking of putting some deck plates to provide some air flow. I only leave her in the water during the weekends.
5)Does 2lb foam help to provide a better ride?
6)(This is the dumb question) When I received my order of epoxy I got ten boxes full of packing peanuts any way to incorporate those?

The boat is a 1972 18ft ScatCraft (had no foam). I haven?t taken a picture yet of the replaced stringers, but here is a member who has the same stringer layout. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=61629 to give you an idea of what I am working with.

Have you considered pink/blue foam board or swim noodles? Drainage is the key and as you are finding it's a trick with the pour in foam.

Shoot up some photos so we can check out what you are working on, eh!

Cheers!

Sorry for the late reply the weather in NC has been horrible lately. I've attached a few pics to give you a better idea of what I am working with.

As you can see the stringer system is a little complex.

While I was walking around Lowe's I did see something that could be used to provide drainage and keep the foam from entering the PVC. It is a type of foam sheet used to keep air flow between the framing in the attic. From the picture i was thinking of cutting off one side so that is lays on top of the pvc pipe that would be the drain channel, use tape to hold it to the side of the stringer and then pour the two part foam.
