I own a 1972 Steury v 415 its a 14' 6" deep V. I was just wondering if they put any flotation foam under the floor in these things. Someone mentioned to me that the foam can get really water logged and make the boat heavy. I took apart the floor on a 1968 glaspar and there was no foam in that one so I was just wondering if there was any in this one? Thanks Guys!

Re: 1972 Steury Any flotation under the floor

Yea I thought of that as a possibility except i boats doesn't list just a v-415 and the hull plate states the model is a v-415. I boats has 3 models of v-415 and they range from 550-650 lbs so I really don't know my base weight. And I'm also not sure of the trailer weight I just didn't know if someone had been into the floor on one of these or if they knew if Steury was putting foam into these boats in 1972.

Re: 1972 Steury Any flotation under the floor

I have a 1973 Steury V415S (rear tag states model 415S, front tag 415C - based on dimensions found on iboats I guess it is a V415S). I recently started a restoration and found only a mouse nest, ants and rotten plywood under the deck. There is foam sprayed under the top cap...under the bow and up under the side rails. Anyone know if this foam is for flotation? Hope this helps.
