1972 Steury w/ a 50hp Merc??

I own a 1972 steury, i boats lists the wieght at 580lbs. I'm looking at a 1975 50hp mercury. I was just wondering if you guys think I would have problems water skiing behind this set up? The boats rated for 60hp. Just wanted to get some of your opinions.
