At first the moter ran and a bit hard to start and some smoke, but the steering system broke .so we replaced the stearing system. We took the boat out again and it wouldnt get speed. And found it hard to start and smoked ,the moter would run well out of the water with a hose.connected. But it still smoked . So we had the carbs rebuilt, put it on the water and again the same proublem. We found 2 of the coils were cracked now we have replaced the coils.put it on the water and it wont start trys to turn over but. Wont fire. We also replaced the spark plugs . We havent adjusted the carbs could that be the proublem or something else.

Model number??

Two strokes are supposed to smoke.

If it won't run well in the lake it is only pretending to run well out of it.

Back to basics.
Check the compression with a compression checker.
Check the spark on each cylinder with a spark tester.
If both of those are OK, then try to start by spraying pre-mix directly into the carb throat.

If you have no spark, disconnect the black/yellow wire from the power pack and see what happens.
