So I took my boat out the other day and when I would approach WOT the boat began to jerk. As my speed would increase the jerking would become more frequent. When I would lay off the throttle the jerking would stop. I did some research and believe this is due to the clutch dog slipping. I was wondering how difficult it would be to gain access to the clutch dog to either flip it or replace the piece entirely? Are there any special tools I would need? Any information on taking apart the lower unit to reach the clutch dog would be helpful.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think you can flip the clutch dog. You probably need a forward gear also. Yes you need special tools. And a service manual wouldn't hurt either.
