Can anyone tell me what the point gap should be on this motor and what the datum point is relative to the shaft key?
Many thanks in advance!

I think I answered my own question #2. If you line up the shaft key with the rubbing block on the point set, it seems to give the right place to set the gap to .020. Thanks to rickdb1boat for his help! The tune-up, new electrical parts and new prop has an old motor running like new!
Andbham

Yes, when you have the key pointing to the rubbing block, the point is opened to it's widest, and that's where you set it to .020". For extra fun and excitement, you can point a timing light up under the flywheel on the right side. The mark on the flywheel should appear between the two marks on the armature plate.
Tighten your flywheel nut to 40-45ft/lbs or you'll risk having the flywheel key shear.
A service manual is worth it's weight in gold. You should consider getting a hold of one. :)
