I have a 25 hp johnson i belive it to be 1973.idulling it is fine but when you crack on the throttle it dies like it may not be getting enough full. i thought it was jumping time but that is impossiable since there is a key in the crack and points are set off that( or am i wrong) just wondering what anyone else thought it could be?

Thanks

Could be a carburetor issue. You may want to take it apart and clean it. Is the tank venting ok? Are you sure there are no air leaks in your fuel lines? Are the lines original? If so you should replace them, as they aren't meant for today's fuel. Is the fuel pump working properly? Could be a number of possibilities, but it definitely sounds like a fuel starvation problem.
