I cleaned the carb. The motor runs well for a minute - then it peters out and is hard to start. The bulb primes well but after the motor quits running the bulb is soft so I suspect a fuel pump issue. Any way to check that without fancy equipment? Anything else it might be? Is it best to buy a new fuel pump or can the old one be rebuilt?

Thanks,

I am a newbie!

That does sound like a bad fuel pump. Have you removed and inspected it? Diaphragm ok? ripped? Rebuild kit should be fine if your comfortable.

The bulb will always be soft when the motor is running, if you squeeze the bulb and it continues to run it could possibly be the fuel pump, but could also be an air leak.
