I am wanting to add a kill switch to an old outboard that did not come with one. Knowing my luck I will be the one thrown overboard only to watch my boat motor off into the sunset.

I have the Factory manual with the wiring diagrams, but before I just start cutting wires I thought maybe someone here could lead me in the right direction.

Does anyone know which wires in the ignition I can tap into to install the kill switch?

Thanks Guys
Steven

Look at the two M connections on the attached picture. The way the ignition switch works is to close the two M connections when you turn the key to "Off", grounding the powerpack.

The kill switch needs to be connected to the same two posts.

They sell several different types here at iboats.

BTW, don't work on the ignition or the harness with the battery connected.

Hi your advice is crystal clear. I used a simular picture from my Factory manual to hook up my new ignition switch. But I understand the wiring and what I need to do now, Thanks
