I recently bought a used boat. The engine now has no spark, went to use boat and wouldn't fire. Took boat to dealer, they checked for spark, only had spark only at #3 plug,he energized other coils and now spark at all coils, now engine runs fine. He said it could be power pack,$120.or stator/triger assembly $300.and to replace both $500.parts/labour with no gaurantee it is fixed.I am a retired auto mechanic, I took it to dealer for sake of conveince. What manual do I specifically need to diagnois and repair problem and what could be the likely problem or cause? I'm thinking intermitent open curcuit in power pack.

I bought one of these engines and had the same problem. It was the trigger assembly.I found this by checking resistance. I took 2 bad assemblies and made 1 the individual triggers are replaceable but i don't think you can buy them.

Hey Wayne,
You're on the right track getting a manual. You can go to the bottom of this page and click on "Repair Manual" and get a Chiltons or click on this link and get a factory manual.

http://www.kencook.com/

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
