Anyone with a 65esl73R or 65ES73R 65Hp 1973 Johnson please help.

The problem has arrisen because I cannot get a configuration that gives me 650RPM in reverse and carbys fully open when the control is all the way open - and yes I have unscrewed the top screw above the IDLE screw.

I am trying to get the timing of my engine right. If anyone with the same motor could take some measurements and get back to me that would be great. Could also help others down the track.

6 images in total.. and I have included pics to help below. Thanks in Advance.

No 1. length of the Spark Advance Link. mine = 83mm centre to centre

No2. Length between left edge of cam push bar and left edge of nylon locator. mine = 120mm

No3. Length of lower idle screw exposed. mine = 15mm

No4. Cam to Carby Roller Gap. mine = 2mm

Re: 1973 65HP 65ESL75R timing concerns

As no one from here has put there two cents forward - I will try this configuration and see how it goes. I have had contact from Brad in Hobart and Nils in Norwey via other forums and this configurations is almost identical. So i guess its a case of try it and see.
