1973 9.8 hp Merc 110

Stupid question, but maybe not. I have noticed this grasy oily film running down the back of my motor where the lower unit meets. Is this just from the exhaust, that is what it looks like. I am hoping so and not a leak of oil from the lower unit. If your out there Crom, I am about to tackle those pawl washers.

Check the gear oil...if the gear oil is similiar and the case contains water...it will be of the same origin.<br /><br />Most likely if it smells of gas..it is exactly that.<br /><br />TMD
