I have a 1971 Evinrude 60hp. This motor is no good to me as it is too small but I found a guy who has a 1973 Chrysler 105hp with controls that he wants to trade for a smaller motor. He is interested in tradeing for my 60hp. My question is this, should I trade and where can I find parts for the 105 motor should I ever need them? Everywhere I have checked does not go back to 1973 so it concerns me a little when it comes to replacement parts. I have access to anything I need for the 60hp but that motor is just too small. Also, in addition to the parts issue, what does everyone think about this possible trade?

I would run the chrysler if I had a use for it, but I'm not sure I would do that trade.

Re: 1973 Chrysler 105hp questions

Oh, I forgot the condition of the engine. It runs great and the carbs have recently been rebuilt. Very clean motor.

My 60 hp needs carbs rebuilt, spark advance linkage, gearcase resealed, and a new water pump.

My biggest concern is I cant find anywhere to get parts for the 73 Chrysler 105 and I really dont want an engine I cant get parts for but Id rather have one I can use rather than just have one sittin around that I cant use.

This is also going to be a even trade if it happens. I cant help but think its a good deal but Im looking for opinions as well as possible parts suppliers.

If the compression checks out and you can see/hear the motor run, I wouldnt be afraid of that motor, especially since you can use the 105 but not the 60 that you have in hand.

The 105 were great motors, still should be plenty of parts out there[ ebay sites, just post 105 chrysler parts, or google it or better yet try here at iboats]
