Built in tank?Possible vent line clogged.Portable tank too.
Water in fuel.
Gas line on motor, ethanol eats the rubber and it can cause it to collapse.

Need to know a little more. Does it start right up again or do you need to wait a couple of minutes? If you need to wait, then the wires passing under the flywheel are touching it and shorting. The circuit breaker pops and it will self reset when it cools. Then the engine will restart.

In later year Force engines, Mercury placed a thin metal shield under the flywheel to prevent this.
