1973 Evenrude 6302s 6HP. impeller replacement, did I put it in wrong?

Finished up a complete tune up on the engine today and decided to change the impeller for the first time ever.

I installed the new impeller with the fins bend in the same direction as in the parts manual. (see pic), but now I am wondering if I put it in correctly. If you were holding the impeller cup and looking down at it, the fins would be pointing in a counter clockwise direction. I guess it makes sense, because the shaft, turning CW, would then not jam the fins.

Second question:
After full assembly, My gear position lever seems to be off. I will go into reverse, then a big area for neutral, then forward, however the lever position is not straight up when in neutral. It seems to shift fine, but just does not position at straight up for neutral. Is there an adjustment or did I not get the set screw on the shift inside the housing correct. That was a bugger trying to get that thing back on. Any tricks or tips I need to know?

Thanks

My experience is that the impeller vanes will flip to the correct position when you start the engine if you put it in backwards.
I would check and make sure you have the shift rod aligned properly, make sure the screw is in the slot in the shift rod and not just clamped onto the end of the shift rod.
