1973 Evinrude 85hp.....Best Prop for perfromance????

I have a 1973 Evinrude 85HP that comes with a standard 3 Blade Aluminum 13 - 1/4 x 17" Prop. I need to replace it now. Convinced myself to go with Stainless Steel, but it has a whole bunch of different sizes in the Manual. Everything from 12 - 3/4 to 13 - 3/4 and 23" to 21" pitch. I need some prop education? I am getting about 32mph with my current torn-up aluminum prop, but need better low speed performance. Thank you in advanced.

The simple answer for better holeshot is less pitch (perhaps a 15 instead of a 17), but the simple answer isn't always the correct answer. To help you get the correct answer we need to know your RPM at WOT. Your tachometer is the most important tool for prop selection. If it doesn't work, you need to fix it before you go prop shopping.
