I guess you dont want to weld it again? If the LU is the same year and model then it has to fit.

well the crack is about 1/2inch long on the port side and 1 1/2 inches long on the starboard side right below the anti cav plate it wraps the back of the unit...should it be strucurally sound, (can i just use and exopy to seal it) or do i need to weld it..

One question you may ask is if it has a bolt under the plate. One of mine has two bolts holding the LU on and one has just the long bolt. Sometimes there is a shorter bolt under the plate on the bottom.
Ask which way the shaft turns when you turn it clockwise.
IMO If it is the same LU, I wouldn't mess with the cracked one.

That unit is probably cracked from a high impact, If it is cracked, It most certainly is bent. Most owner's think these engine's will tolerate high impact. Read your owner's manual, and see what it say's. Something about flying part's, and personal injury.

Ya, that metal in front is really thick so if it was cracked the lower is more tha likely bent and should be replaced.

That Ebay deal had 4 days left on it I check so I doubt it will stay that price btu you can hope.

I actually bought one for that with a prop, I think it was $127 + shipping, about passed out.

The first outboard I bought had a cracked lower, '64 Johnson 9.9, it was sitting in a barrel of water, the guy started it right up for me and revved it up a couple times in forward and reverse and he was only asking $300 so I grabbed it, he even offered to load it for me, I found out why when I got home.

Lower had a 3 way crack in it, I was able to JB weld it and it was fine, ran it for 2-3 years and sold it for $500.
