1973 Fastwin 18 won't run right

I have a 1973 Fastwin 18 hp that will start and run okay as long as I have the choke closed and only want to idle. If I try to rev it or open the choke, it dies. Any suggestions?

The carburetor is fouled. Remove, clean, and rebuild it.
