Hi, Wicked.

Welcome to iboats. :)

NEVER work on an outboard without a Service Manual that you have studied.

Then you will know what to do and how.

Good luck. :)

However, if you insist on doing it anyway, here is the precedure in a nutshell. Remove the shift rod pin under the lower carburetor. You need a 7/16" universal joint socket and a long extension or two to do it. Then remove the 5 bolts that you can see that hold the lower unit on. There is another hidden bolt in the cavity above the trim tab. The lower unit will then come down and the water pump will be looking at you. Look for the two plastic water tube guides that may have shinneyed up the tubes. You need them to reinstall the lower unit. Lube all rubber stuff when reinstalling, Lube the drive shaft splines, and make sure there is a good o-ring on it, put some sealer on the gearcase where it meets the midsection.
