I have the T stat and the presure relief valves removed at the moment, the t stat cover is also removed.

Assuming that the water pump is working, and that the water intake is not clogged between the water pump and the T stat.

Then should I get water coming out of the T stat opening while I run the motor on muffs attached to a hose.

With no cloggs and a working water pump the water pump should have no problems getting water to the top of the motor? With the T stat and cover removed there shouldn't be a trapped air issue?

the water is not reaching the top of the motor as far as I can tell through the T stat opening. My exhaust relief valves show no water and my motor has no Pee Hole.

If my testing is faulty please let me know, If water should have reached the top of the motor then I will start at the pump and work my way up.

Please let me know if water was supposed to reach the top of the motor testing the way I did.
Thanks
Steven

Re: 1973 johnson 65 horse specific cooling question

I have no faith in muffs. To the best if my knowledge water should reach the tstat. But I have heard a few stories from here and personally of people overheating on muffs and had a friend burn up his pump.I only trust a barrel with the motor well lowered into the water.Thousands use muffs with no problem but:::
If you don't know the history of the pump you should replace it anyway.
while you have it opened you can test things.
