The original tilt/trim assembly was sold as an accessory. Part number 172670. It's been discontinued for many years. Used ones are getting hard to find, but you do see them offered occasionally on EBAY. Bombardier has a website where you can view the exploded parts list: epc.brp.com. You will find this part under the ob accessories pages for 1973.

"not repairable" with regards to 1970-1989 trim is usually more myth than truth. Are you sure it isn't repairable?

Its nla so I guess it is repairable, thanks for your help. The ram is leaking real bad and the motor has water intrusion but it looks like I will be fixing it. I found the parts breakdown and Im working on a list. There are quite a few parts that are nla also. You would think there would be some sort of market for assy's that were rebuilt but I havnt run across any. Im going to call seaway marine and see if they have any leads on the parts that are obsolete. If anyone has any other leads it would be helpful. Thanks again

Very possible that Bombardier makes oring repair kits for this unit. Ask your dealer about 174520-2 pcs. Some of Bombardier's dealers have their inventories linked which will show any NLA parts which they have in stock-see a Bombarier dealer. There are a number of other dealers around the US which offer NLA or even used parts for old OMC engines. You may find that Google is a big help.

Before the mid-1980's parts were considered a support item. Good engineering practice was to use industry standard items unless there was a performance or reliability gain to be had by using proprietary. What that means to you and your 1973 engine is that most of the parts you need are on the shelf at the local Grainger. It's just a matter of figuring which of the 300,000 items is the right one for your boat.
