1973 Johnson 9.5hp won't run well

I have a 73 Johnson 9.5 and I serviced it,and it was running fine. I took it for a run on the river,and it ran great. Then I stopped to talk to some other people,shut it off then restarted and it would not rev much higher than idle,at full throttle. I was wondering what may have caused this?

is your mixture set properly , pumping water?<br /><br />check carb for any gum build up and clean/put in new plugs

I put new plugs in. What should the mixture be? gas/oil and what is the basic carb setting?

50:1 gas/oil mix thats 500 ml oil to a gallon of feul<br /><br />to set the carb get the engine to idle and turn the mxture screw in at 1/4 increments until the engine starts to splutter , ythen turn it out 1/4 or 1/2<br /><br />also bing the throttle adjuster on te tiller arm up so the engine idles smoothly
