1973 merc 110 9.8 hp started out of water, what should i look to fix?

i was given a '73 110 mec 9.8 hp. it was started out of the water, so i am having a new water pump / impeller kit installed. the motor still runs, but is there anything else i should look to fix before i go out on the water for the first time?

How long was it run out of the water?

Get the compression checked

about 30 sec i think. i think it was run untill it overheated and froze up. however, it turns over and the compression feels good. and i have started it in water for about 3 or 4 sec just to make sure it still runs. it runs a little rough, but it sounds pretty good. starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull.

I would still check the compression.
