1973 merc 20hp

Picking up a 20hp merc (1973 per the serial number)
Getting it for a reasonable price to use vs the 12hp gale on the fishing boat.

I know the shafts are not stainless. Anyone know how long the motor will last running in brine?

For the price, this is a disposable motor, so short of a new recoil rope and an impeller, i have no desire to spend any money.

The '59 gale will be on craigslist shortly.

No idea. Depends on how badly pitted it is already. Depends on how regularly you flush it out with fresh water. Could last a season. Could last for years.

its been a fresh water motor its whole life. however I have no idea as I wont get it until mid month.
