1973 Merc 650 No Spark

I just got a 1973 Thundercraft tri-hull w/ a 65HP Mercury on the back with no spark. By just looking at the outside condition of the distributor cap I'm pretty sure that's the problem but since the cheapest one I can find is $125 for a used one and $225 new since they're discontinued I want to make darned sure that's the problem before I order one. Is there any way to test if the cap is bad or is the problem before the cap in the coil or the power pack?

I doubt if it's the cap but heres the test for the complete system.

I saw some small spiderweb cracking from just a quick inspection so it'll probably have to be replaced either way. Unfortunately that's a major hit in the wallet since the cap is no longer in production and are running over $200 for a new one.
