I am wanting to get some information on a boat i have had for around 6 years now. Its a 1973 Seaport 23 foot cabin cruiser. The engine is disassembled and all jet drive parts are just laying in the boat. All cables are stuck and the manifolds look like they need to be replaced. The engine itself is not fixable. I was wanting to try to fix the boat but i dont know anything about boats. I have built car engines and i know that a boat engine has different crank, cam, distributor, carb and all. I want to get info on if this boat would be worth "trying" to fix up? I have no money in this boat as of now. Hull is in good shape floor is solid. all it really needs is engine, drive train, and all cables. The engine is a small block Chevy. It has a propeller inside a housing that sucks up from bottom like a jet ski. I'm wanting to buy a repair manual but i dont know what i need to buy it for. Its not a stern drive so what is it? and is it worth fixing? assuming all motor parts are bad how much am i looking at for a new motor and complete jet drive system with all cables, etc.? i wouldn't even attempt to fix this boat up but the hull is GREAT all fiberglass no wood. Floors is fiberglass also. I got the boat with everything disassembled and half the motor parts missing. any info on what kind of motor/drive train system would be great. also if its worth fixing or just junk.
