Does anyone have a downloadable manual for this motor? I am having some issues keeping it running. There is also a lever on the left side of the motor that appears to have been attached to something by a cable or spring. This lever can either be put forward or back. When it is in the back position, the motor's rpm's skyrocket, then I shut it down immediately. I need some documentation specific to this motor. Thanks in advance.

I am probably wrong but it sounds like you are moving the spark advance lever. That was the speed control on some 30's and early 40's motors.

If you have the air cooled Clinton be very careful to keep it running cool. I had one that would bind as it warmed up. My 1939 Champion 3hp had more power.
