1974 200 20 hp

New here and new to boating. I have a 16 foot alum. with a 1974 merc 200 20 hp . I just got it runs good .I replaced the water pump in the bottom and I get no water coming out the little hose on the side .I checked hose and was able to blow through it so not plugged.Where is the thermostat on this engine ? I would like to put a new one in but have no clue where it is

There is no thermostat on that motor !----Never was one on those from about 1960 to 1983 or so.

Is.the water.tube lined up?.Is the key in the impeller?

Did the old impeller come out in on piece? Are you on muffs or in a tank?

It really didn't need to be changed was in good shape but I changed it anyway and I am on muffs

Try it in the lake once, sometimes motors act funny on muffs. If it doesnt work there take it apart and double check the impeller.
