1974 50 HP Evinrude Water Pump

I have rcently purchased a pontoon boat that has a 1974 50 HP Evinrude Outboard. Model #50473M. The guy I bought it from said he has not changed the water pump since he has had it. approx 6 years. I figured it is problably time. He started it up for me on the hose and she started right up, and sounded pretty good. I did notice this motor did not have a tell tail. No little stream peeing out the rear. I am used to my yamaha, first time dealing with evinrude. Is this motor supposed to have a tell tail? How is the water routed up and back out?
Any info you guys could give me will be greatly appriciated. Also let me know if there is anything else I would need to know about this motor.

the water comes out thru the exhaust, thru the prop. you can add a tell tale.
