1974, 70 hp Evinrude Triumph cracks in crankcase

Just bought this motor, knowing it had these cracks-pushed from inside , and am wondering what is the most likely thing that caused it, and is it worth the effort and $ to repair?------has tilt trim and good leg

Thrown rod. Either broken rod, piston, both. You would have to tear down the motor to fully inspect the power head and crank to see if it is worth repairing. A replacement power head would be cheaper.

Forget the the cost of the power head, try to find another motor and use the rest of what you have for parts.
