Back a few weeks I posted a "loss of power"
problem. Here's the follow-up...

I found a bad lower ignition coil.
Replaced it and after a few minutes running
time I'd still loose power. Followed the book
on checking out electrical items. All seemed to
check out.. Removed the plugs and clamped them
to the block, darkend the garage and cranked the
engine. Lo'n behold, after a minute or so's turning the bottom plug began giving weak then
intermittent spark. Installed 1 new power pack.
Took it out on the lake and STILL no power.
Back to the garage. To shorten the story, the
lever that advances the timing via spring action
from the throttle/shift wasn't moving freely. Removed, cleaned and lubed. Then I found a small
piece of black rubber, evidently from when I put all new hoses on, lodged in the float valve orifice of the bottom carb. Back to the lake after a short run with the muffs on and she now
flies along like a brand new one....

Uncle Fred
