Hey I have a 1974 Johnson 85 hp outboard that i got from a buddy. i finally got it to run well but when i adjusted the shift rod the way the manual told me to (all the way down and then turn til the hole is facing forward) I can only shift into reverse. I was wondering if anyone knows the correct shift rod height or anything else I might be missing. With the shift rod adjustment all the way down i tried adjusting the shift cable itself but still couldnt get forward to engage. Any help will be much appreciated.
