Hi,
I have the opportunity to purchase a 1974 19'6" Aquasport with a Mercury Blackmax. I'd like to purchase it do some restoration and turn it into a fishing boat with a tower. The asking price is 2000$. The motor works but the boat looks like it could use some tlc. I don't think that it needs a new transom. I am wondering if that is a fair price because i haven't purchased a boat this age before. I am also wondering how one would tell if the foam in the boat needed replacement before cutting out the floor.
Thanks

Re: 1974 Aquasport

take a hole saw in an electric drill, cut of a hole, then take a piece of pcv, notch the end, so it has teeth, twist it into the foam, for a core plug. push the foam out, of the pvc. if dry, ok and reseal the hole. 2 to 3 test holes.

Get you a copy of Boat Trader magazine for pricing. You can find it at many/most convenience stores.
