I have a 1974 Evinrude 135 Strangler. The tach on the boat doesn't work and the battery doesn't charge. I replaced the rectifier and it immediately blew. I then replaced the stator (not cheap) and then blew another rectifier. What am I missing? Why would the rectifiers be frying so quickly? The power pack doesn't affect this part of the stator/rectifier, right? I can't keep buying rectifiers at $25 a pop. This is getting really frustrating...
