1974 evinrude 25 hp pee hole

Where is the pee hole on my 1974 25 hp evinrude? And also is there a way I can test my water pump/ impeller without risking damage to my outboard? Thank you!

If you do not know the age / condition of the impeller then it needs a new one.----Water comes / pours out with the exhaust relief.----Folks back then did not need peeholes on their motors.---They did regular maintenance !

How difficult is it to change the impeller? Where is the impeller located? Thank you!

Impeller is located in the lower unit.Its not really that hard .Get yourself a manual be it factory or seloc either will help greatly in doing the job.Youtube has hundreds of vids on waterpump changes for outboards also.

Thermostat should be checked too.--Often they are missing or stuck open.

Water pump is in the bulge a few inches above the flat cavitation plate.
