:( Help here for the shade tree mechanic. My motor starts fine and idles fairly smooth, but when I accelerate to full speed it feels as if the air/gas mix is too lean. I have to hold the choke toggle up on the shifting console for the engine to run fairly smooth. The boat sat for two years. New cables were installed for the shifting and gas from the shifting console to the motor. Here is what I have done: replaced gas tank and fuel line, cleaned and reconnected all fuel and vacuum lines, used a can of Berryman's to clean as much of the carb as possible without taking it apart, emptied the carb "bowls", new plugs, new plug wires. I am not sure if the linkage is set right. Bottom line, I still think it's not getting enough gas. Thanks in advance, I am not a great mechanic, but am learning in my old age.

Firstly get yourself a manual for your engine, your going to need it.<br />The problems you are getting are indicative of crud in the carb jets, you need to strip down the carbs, give them a good soak in carb cleaner and blow out all of the ports with compressed air. Reassemble the carb using a new carb kit.

thanks, that's what I thought. I grew up in the 70's working on my own cars, so it's been a while. appreciate it.
