This morning my wife and I loaded up the 14' shallow well narrow aluminum boat we just finished patching and painting and installed new transom board and the 6hp Johnson we just rebuild. We took them out to a local public 600 acrea lake for the final test. She cranked up after a few pulls, (carborator was mostly empty, because I always pull the gas line coming from the tank to burn up whats left at the end of each run). She ran just as smooth as a baby's butt...running wot, midrange and down to just a snails pace. Very smooth. Very strong little motor. Boat motor, boat and us all weighted in my estimate about 525 lbs. She would not plane off all the way but pretty close. I estimate tops were around 18-20 mph....Very Impressive!!! Much more than what everybody had sayed it would. NEVER missed a beat. I ran it for about an hour and a half. Gears all shifted as they should and from there on it cranked up on first or second pull. No problem with gas leaks or anything other than that gasket unde the t-stat cover..just a slight leak there. And Im replacing all that. We just could not be any more pleased. Again my wife and I wanted to thank everybody for all the help we got here on this forum. Some very nice helpful people here. I'm still gonna look for a 9.9 but this time I know what to look for. I did spend alittle more than I wanted to (motor 300 and parts around 230, so I got a little over 500 in her, But we are very proud of this little Johnny 6.... Thanks again, Fishermanms and wife :):)

Glad you are up and running, you may try a little weight distribution in the boat. that little 6 is a great motor.

Fantastic news! I wish mine ran as well. :) Will hopefully get it there soon - I appear to have multiple problems...
