1974 Mecr 500 50HP Impeller and gasket

When I go to set the impeller I noticed that it makes contact with the face plate to pump cover gasket and not the metal of the face plate. I am using this kit "SIERRA 18-3507 Water Pump Kit"

Contact is made toward the front of the plate, maybe the wrong gasket in the kit? It lines up with the guide pins...

Anyone have this issue?

Once you have impeller inserted in water pump housing the vanes will be bent given it clearance....

Ok have the L/U back on but no water out the telltale (on muffs) take L/U back off and run water up from the tube it does not come out the hose that goes to the telltale. If I run water down from the hose water comes out the exhaust and not out the water tube.

How does the water supposed to get out the telltale? Never have seen the path the water should take.
