1974 merc 20hp,stator wiring

I have a 1974 mercury 200 20hp, with s/n 3827728 on the power head, Im putting a new switch box on so i can use the old one for another motor that im building. My ? is does the red wire go on the left or right terminal on the stator. my 2 other motors have it on the left, but the one that im replacing that ran fine had it on the right. also theres a high and low speed coil, which is which. I do have a manual but it does not say. Thanks for any Help!!!!!!
