1974 MERC 65hp Lower unit

What other hp lower units will fit this motor? IE, 402,50hp,60hp,80hp? The lower unit was trashed, and now I need another one. Serial number is 4049463. If anyone has one let me know, as long as the gears and all the shafts are good, I dont care if I have to have it resealed.

50hp (4 cylinder) from 1971 (maybe 1970 also) on up past 1978 (not sure how far past that point) fits. <br /><br />40hp (twin) fits not sure of years, probably similar to 50hp. <br /><br />65-75hp triple fits (obviously) from when they introduced the triple (1973?) on up.<br /><br />The triple runs 1.66/1 gears, most of the 50s and 40s I've seen run 2/1 gears, but not all.<br /><br />The impeller on these is on the lightweight side, as you may know, recommend changing unless you know the one in there is recent.

Nathan,<br />check ebay. there's at least 3 available right now that will fit your outboard. i share your pain bro, i need to have the lower on my Merc 500 resealed...$62.50 for seals, $70 per hour shop time = OUCH!

I dont have one that needs resealed, I need the whole thing. If anyone has one please let me know.

There are several that will fit on ebay right now....not seals, the whole shebang.

I've got a 197? 65 HP Merc. Powerhead and lower unit are good, but the wiring is shot. Where do You live?<br /><br />Jeff
