Hey All!

During an agressive clean up of my work area prior to finalizing the installation of our rebuilt engine someone, maybe even myself, tossed out the dipstick tube to my ford 302 (5.0l) engine!

We still have the dipstick, but no tube.

Anybody out here have a part number, a place I could order one of these up from or even a spare laying around you'd want to sell?

I've searched the web but am not having much luck. Could be a lousy search parameter.

Anyhow, all help appreciated!

Not sure if that tube is marine specific. I'll have to take a look at my '76 888 to be sure. I don't even know where it meets the engine. It was just always there when I stuck the stick down it.

Hey Boomyal,

Entered into the oil pan directly through some sort of riveted "patch" (looks oem, not cobbed) right on the starbord side.

Found a ford number at one point, but haven't found any online sales listings.

Hope you have some good info for me!

ThanX!

BTW: Am Having to reglass one of the motor mount stringers but was able to get the drive shaft into the bearing and coupler prior to raising the motor to fix the stringer. Should alignment be fairly straight forward (that two finger slide thing) just by using the motor mount nuts and side to side movement prior to locking the mounts down?

My "76" 888 threw a curve or two during the re-build. The ford factory dip went through alum. timing chain housing. Merc changed that by a plug in the original and a new port into the starboard side oil pan. A real shame IMO as oil level is a real pain to check at that location. That was minor beans compared to replacement pistons, camshaft angles, oil slingers and other oddities. Best of luck as it is a great marine pp.
