1974 Mercury 650 help

I was dropped off a merc 650 a few weeks ago. After a couple of days of playing find the schematic so I could make a test harness it fired right up. My problem is there is no shocks or power tilt on it. I?m trying to fit the power tilt from my merc 1500 on it, all measurements match up. My question is if it doesn?t fit what can I do/what came with it new. And someone chopped the engine plug off the mercontrol that came in my boat. Is there anyplace I could find the plug end at?? I?m thinking of using a dash mounted key switch instead of tearing the mercontrol apart and replacing the key and harness. Btw no key for mercontrol anyhow!!!

There are only about 10 keys for the MerControl units. A dealer can match it up easily.

Engine harnesses should easily be available for that motor, on the web. Boat harneses will be less avail, you may need to go used.

Your 1500 power trim brackets bolt to upper shock mounts, The lower eye of the trim cylinders bolt to the lower shock mounts. Although I have never tried it, I was under the impression that the PTT units would only fit 4/6 cylinder inline motors. Sorry I cannot be more help.
